New-build and resin floor: do they go together? Many people who are moving into a new-build home or will be doing so soon wonder about this. We can be brief about the answer: yes. However, there are a number of points of attention to take into account.
To help you on your way, we have listed the possibilities.
Resin floor popular in new-build
A resin floor brings a lot of unity to spatial design and is therefore very popular in new-build homes among private individuals. Resin floors form a very powerful basis in the interior. Often, the choice is made to apply a resin floor in multiple rooms. The seamless application and transition of the different living spaces (for example: from living room to the corridor or hall) ensures an extraordinarily sleek whole. Building experts, contractors and architects are also very positive about the appearance, broad applicability and comfort properties of resin floors.
Possibilities and points of attention
Whether it concerns floor finishing (uni-color, concrete look, marble look), color scheme (white, gray, black, other) or living style (rural, industrial, Scandinavian); with a resin floor, the possibilities for creating the look and feel desired by you are almost endless.
However, the application procedure differs per new-build home:
- Are you already moving into the new-build home? A major advantage of homes that were delivered a maximum of two to three years ago is that the subfloor is usually (still) even. In that situation, leveling can be omitted and it is possible to apply the resin floor directly over the screed. Read here on which subfloors it is possible to apply a resin floor;
- Is the home yet to be delivered? Some caution is then appropriate during the application. After all, it can take about 12 to 24 months before all ‘construction moisture’ has completely disappeared from a home. The whole can still work considerably, with a risk of crack formation on the resin floor. However, shrinkage and expansion stresses can be absorbed by means of dilations. (With this application method, you make the resin floor directly suitable for underfloor heating and/or cooling!)
For the reasons mentioned above, it is important that the resin floor is always applied by an expert with a lot of experience and material knowledge. TREU can support you with this. Read more here.
