How thick is a cast floor?
The thickness of a cast floor is dependent on multiple factors. For example, different types of cast floors have different thicknesses. They are almost never thicker than 10 millimeters. Cast floors can therefore easily be applied over existing floors. The minor height difference also ensures that thresholds, doors and skirting boards almost never need to be adjusted. PU cast floor
PU cast floors are available in countless colors and versions. This cast floor type is slightly elastic, which makes the floor feel comfortable and easy to combine with underfloor heating. A PU cast floor is usually 3 to 5 millimeters thick.
If the cast floor is applied to an existing floor, then there are two options that influence the floor thickness. If the underfloor heating is milled into the existing floor, then this gives no increase. Is the underfloor heating, on the other hand, applied on top of an existing floor with a screed over it? Or is a Fermacell dry system used? In that case, the floor thickness increases proportionally.
Cement-bound resin floor
A cement-bound cast floor fits excellently in modern interiors thanks to its robust and lively appearance. This type of cast floor is on average 4 to 8 millimeters thick. This is slightly thicker than the PU cast floor because cement is processed into it.
The effect of different finishes on the thickness of the cast floor
Important to know; the number of millimeters can deviate slightly when you choose special finishes. For example, a cast floor with an anti-slip coating or sound-absorbing layer. These special versions will slightly increase the final thickness. Do you choose a cast floor in combination with underfloor heating? Then also take into account that the final floor thickness will turn out higher.
