The price of a PU floor depends on various factors. In many cases, it is comparable to the costs for a high-quality tile floor. In addition to the surface area in m2 the desired or required floor structure also plays a role. How do both factors influence the price? You will find the answer to this question in this article.
The surface area in m2
As a rule of thumb, you can maintain: the larger the surface area in m2, the more favorable the price per m2. Every cast floor project has fixed start-up and execution activities, such as processing times and call-out charges. For smaller cast floors, these actions proportionally form a larger part of the price per m2.
In other words: it pays to provide a larger floor surface (for example, multiple rooms) with a PU floor at the same time. Not only is the price per m2 lower, you also immediately create more unity in the interior this way.
The structure of the PU floor
A PU floor is applied in different layers. Each layer provides a specific contribution to the floor properties and the final look and feel. The first layer is a primer and serves for optimal adhesion of the floor to the subfloor. The additional layers contribute to walking comfort, contact sound reduction, resilience, liquid-tightness and overall appearance.
The required number of layers differs per situation; as a rule, these are 3 to 4. Specific drying times and pre-treatments (such as intermediate sanding and/or leveling) apply to each of the layers.
Factors regarding the floor structure that influence the price:
- The application of a crack-bridging membrane. This is a valuable addition when heating with underfloor heating;
- The application of specific decorative finishes. With the choice for a concrete look cast floor or the scattering of flakes or granules, a unique floor concept can be realized in various ways.
