Why aliphatic resin floors work for home and office

Before choosing a resin floor, it is important to know the difference between the two main types: aliphatic resin floors and aromatic resin floors. The difference between these types of resin floors lies in the way the floors are mixed. By knowing the difference, you prevent unpleasant surprises after the floor has been poured.

In residential and office environments, aliphatic resin floors are usually the best choice. Below we explain why.

The difference between an aromatic and aliphatic floor

Both aliphatic and aromatic resin floors form a mixture of two components: a hardener and a resin. When joining these components and during the pouring process, an even floor is formed. In an aromatic resin floor, the hardening element is a brown matter. This matter ensures a hard floor, but discolors over the years when exposed to UV light.

The alternative is an aliphatic resin floor: a PU resin floor with a transparent hardener. This floor type has a higher purchase price, but the great advantage is that the floor is colorfast. UV radiation has no effect on these floors; the color remains exactly as it was when the floor was poured throughout the years.

There are spaces where it matters little whether discoloration occurs. In a space where sunlight plays no role, you do not need to take discoloration into account, for example. Additionally, discoloration is hardly visible on dark floors. The choice for an aromatic or aliphatic floor therefore depends largely on the space where you use the resin floor.

Why an aliphatic resin floor fits better in the home or office

For a resin floor in an office space or living space, an aliphatic resin floor is usually the best solution. In such spaces, sunlight (often) plays a role and lighter color tones are frequently chosen. Also in other respects, an aliphatic resin floor is a good solution in the home or in a business environment. The colorfast floor has no seams and is somewhat sound-absorbing. Special finishes (concrete look, marble look) are also among the possibilities.

Furthermore, aliphatic resin floors are fire-safe and suitable for underfloor heating. Besides being colorfast, PU resin floors are also wear-resistant, so they can also perform well in places with high foot traffic.

Fitting resin floors into trends

The unique properties of aliphatic resin floors provide a pleasant contribution to the environment on several levels. Because different colors and finishes are possible, a resin floor works in both a modern and a rural interior.
