Situations in which a new top layer offers a solution
In the following situations, a new top layer offers a solution:
- A damaged resin floor. An accident is easily waiting to happen. Damage can also occur during ‘normal use’, for example while sliding heavy furniture or walking in sand. Dirt easily remains behind in the resulting grooves, which is difficult to clean. It is therefore important to take precautions to limit scratches. If scratches have nevertheless occurred, the top coating is easy to replace;
- The resin floor is discolored. Sunlight can cause the resin floor to discolor. This discoloration can be remedied by replacing the top layer. Then choose a UV-resistant top layer immediately. This way the floor is better protected against sunlight and the floor will discolor less quickly in the future;
- A new look. Are you ready for a renewal of your interior? It is not necessary to replace the entire resin floor when you are tired of the current color. By applying a different color top coating, you create exactly the appearance you have in mind.
A new top layer versus a new resin floor
When there are (too) deep damages in your resin floor, it can turn out to be more advantageous to cast the floor again. The advantage of this is that you have a completely new floor. This way you can move forward with it for years again. But the costs are naturally much higher than only applying a new top layer.
Fortunately, casting a new floor is not necessary in many cases. If your resin floor has superficial damage, is discolored, or you are tired of the current color, then applying a new top layer is sufficient. After thoroughly cleaning and lightly sanding the existing resin floor, the new top layer is applied. This layer ensures that the damages disappear and the floor looks like new again.
