No single floor offers full protection against scratches, including a resin floor. With the right precautionary measures, however, signs of use are easily limited. Choice of material and color execution decisive for visibility of scratches
Despite careful use, it can happen that small scratches occur on a resin floor. The visibility of signs of use, however, differs greatly per type of resin floor and execution. Do you want a resin floor on which signs of use are less prominent? Then orient yourself especially on the following executions:
- Matte executions. Signs of use on floors usually stand out because they give the floor a somewhat matte haze. When the floor is already executed in matte, signs of use seem more like part of the natural character;
- Concrete look executions. On a concrete look resin floor, a scratch is less visible than on sleek uni resin floors, thanks to the mixed, mostly tone-on-tone appearance;
- Lighter resin floors. Scratches are often light in color, making them stand out less on white and light gray resin floors. For dirt, exactly the opposite applies;
- PU resin floors. Soft floors are more scratch-resistant than hard floors. This makes a hard-elastic PU resin floor better resistant to scratches than a cement-bound resin floor.
Optimal preservation through the right prevention
The good news is that you largely have the preservation of a resin floor in your own hands. With the right precautionary measures, scratch formation can be limited to a large extent, for example by means of:
- Protective caps. With many home and office furniture pieces, felt pads are applied under the legs to protect the floor. The disadvantage of felt, however, is that hard dirt particles easily attach to it. When sliding chairs, the floor is scratched with every movement. Our advice for optimal protection: use soft protective caps for hard floors; for a soft floor, use hard protective caps;
- Desk mats. Desk chairs can cause small scratches through friction when the floor is not completely free of dirt or the swivel wheels are too hard. With a desk mat under the workspace, an extra protective layer is applied with which scratch formation is prevented;
- A walk-off zone. What does not end up on the floor cannot cause scratches either. Sand, small stones, and other dirt have the same effect as sandpaper when rubbed against the floor. With a good brush mat/dry-walk mat at the entrance, you keep the culprits of scratches outside as much as possible;
- The right cleaning agents. Always use soft brush heads when removing dust. Avoid the use of scouring agents, chlorine-containing agents, and soap- and polymer-containing products; these promote scratch, stain, and residue formation respectively. Clean resin floors regularly and exclusively with cleaning products that are suitable for the floor.
Disturbing resin floor scratches can be effectively removed
Have small scratches nevertheless occurred despite careful use that you experience as disturbing? Superficial scratches and other light wear spots can be made virtually invisible with a scrubbing or polishing machine. However, always have such work carried out by a recognized cleaning company. Often such scratches can also be remedied with a special resin floor repair set.
