When laying a resin floor, skirting boards are recommended to camouflage the connection between the wall and the floor. This has both decorative and practical advantages:
- It ensures a sleek finish. Seams in corners and around pillars are professionally masked. Due to the rich variety of RAL colors, resin floor skirting boards can bring extra unity to the interior;
- Easy to maintain. Resin floor skirting boards protect the wall at the bottom against moisture and damage. When cleaning the floor, there is no longer a risk of contamination or the peeling of latex paint or wallpaper.
Which resin floor skirting boards are available?
Resin floor skirting boards are available in various types and shapes:
- Recessed skirting boards. In this case, a recess is made in the plasterwork so that the skirting board is flush with the plaster layer. The skirting board is virtually inconspicuous as a result, especially when the skirting board is executed in the same color as the wall or floor;
- Aluminum skirting boards. These skirting boards are often slimly designed and give a modern touch to the interior. The skirting boards are available in raw, sandblasted, brushed, and lacquered versions. For concealing wiring/cabling, hollow aluminum skirting boards are also available;
- Stainless steel skirting boards. Due to their industrial character, stainless steel skirting boards match perfectly with gray resin floors. These skirting boards are available in, among others, ground and brushed variants;
- MDF skirting boards. MDF skirting boards are available in various styles, from romantic and baroque to contemporary. These skirting boards are available pre-lacquered in a wide range of colors, with which the spatial effect can be emphasized;
- Wooden skirting boards. Wooden skirting boards have a warm, rural appearance and last a long time. With the many types of wood (including beech, oak, walnut) and shapes (such as straight, flat, wavy), there is something for every interior.
The best approach for resin floors
To make an informed choice, we share three important tips for applying (skirting boards to) resin floors:
- Distance to the wall. Lay cementitious resin floors slightly away from the wall. This type of resin floor is naturally quite hard. When movement occurs, the resin floor can crack. A perfect connection is created with skirting boards;
- Application. Resin floor skirting boards can be applied both before and after pouring the floor. The latter option is preferred; this prevents splash damage and the need for repainting;
- Hygiene. In some rooms, a seamless transition between wall and floor is desired from a hygiene perspective, for example in shower rooms. This can be realized with a coved skirting board. Our Artificial resin floor is suitable for this.
