Installing a PVC floor on tiles
Good news: a PVC floor can be applied on tiles. This way you can truly go in any direction with your interior. Whether your choice falls on PVC floors in wood look, concrete look, terrazzo look or leather look, due to the subtle relief effect, the floor is almost indistinguishable from the real variants. Also pleasant and practical:
- PVC floors are very thin, so that adjustments to doors and thresholds are usually not necessary;
- PVC floors contribute to a high level of user comfort. The slightly elastic top layer guarantees a high level of walking comfort. The floor feels wonderfully warm to the feet, particularly in combination with underfloor heating.

Important points of attention
To be able to rely on a good end result when installing PVC floors on tiles, the following points of attention must be taken into account:
Step 1: Leveling
Although it is almost invisible from a distance, tiles never lie at exactly the same height. After all, laying tiles remains manual work. Also, the joints are almost never level. For a sleek end result, it is necessary that the subfloor is well leveled. Height differences and other irregularities are visible in the end result, especially with thinner PVC strips.
By applying a leveling layer, the floor is made completely flat, so that this is no longer an issue. (Prior to leveling, the floor is first thoroughly cleaned and degreased.)
Step 2: Acclimatizing
PVC can work with temperature differences. Therefore, the advice is to let PVC strips in closed packaging acclimatize for 24 to 48 hours in the room where the floor will be installed. This prevents the strips from being damaged or coming loose after installation and gluing as a result of shrinkage and expansion stresses.
Step 3: Installation
Have the PVC strips acclimatized sufficiently? Then the installation can begin. The most beautiful and most durable result is obtained with dryback PVC strips that are glued to the subfloor.
Application is advised at a room temperature of +/- 18℃ and a humidity of +/- 45 to 65%. The humidity must not be too low or too high in connection with the curing and adhesion of the glue.
