How is egaline used when installing a resin floor?
Egaline is a leveling compound used for the installation of resin floors. The goal is to fill any unevenness and cracks in the subfloor. This creates a flat surface on which the resin floor can be applied. Leveling the subfloor is an important step because the resin floor resins themselves are not suitable for filling unevenness.
Prior to applying the egaline layer, the subfloor is first thoroughly cleaned and degreased. Then the egaline is evenly distributed over the floor using a smoothing trowel. As soon as the egaline has hardened, the resin floor is applied.
Egaline floor as a finish floor
Egaline is a good choice for leveling your subfloor. But is it also suitable as a finish floor? Although it is a more economical alternative with a similar appearance, we advise against choosing an egaline finish floor for several reasons:
- Durability. Egaline is not as durable and wear-resistant as the resins used in resin floors. Egaline finish floors are therefore more sensitive to damage, wear, and staining. Also, due to the composition and the drying process, egaline floors are sensitive to cracks;
- Low-maintenance. Egaline floors require more maintenance than resin floors to maintain their sleek appearance. Resin floors are more hygienic in use and easier to clean;
- Design possibilities. An egaline finish floor has limited design possibilities. Egaline can only be applied in a limited number of colors and versions. Resin floors are available in various versions and all RAL and NCS colors. This way, you are always assured of a floor that fits your interior wishes.
