The world of interior design is currently undergoing a striking transformation. Today’s buzzwords? Diversity, sophistication, and fascination. With hospitality as the major driver. What else will the rest of 2024 bring? TREU interior specials dives into the latest developments. These trends are expected to become even more visible in the coming period.
1. Eclectic
Interiors with a diversity of styles, often characterized by a strong, distinct character, are increasingly present. Eclectic mixes seem to make almost anything possible. Take, for example, the Intratuin in IJsselstein, where various styles are brought together, resulting in a unique and personal design. For this project, TREU carefully matched the carpet colors to the vintage look of the interior. The creative works of innovative artists and brands were also included in the carpet design.
Another project with an eclectic style is BOTEL in Amsterdam. In collaboration with ESTIDA, TREU developed a clear layout plan, in which the different carpet patterns and colors are clearly defined. More information about this project can be found here.
2. Sustainability
We are also seeing a growing trend toward sustainability within interior design, with increasing attention to reuse and the use of natural materials. Wool, a renewable source for floor coverings, is a good example of this. In addition, wool is hard-wearing, which ensures a longer lifespan. Furthermore, wool contributes to better acoustics due to its sound-absorbing properties.
Did you know that TREU’s printed carpets are made from 100% recycled materials? An example of a project where sustainable materials were used is the Intratuin in IJsselstein.
3. Natural and round shapes
Round and natural shapes are still in demand in interiors. These are often an alternative to ‘traditional’ square shapes. You might think of round tables, but we also see the trend reflected in carpet patterns and rugs. For instance, TREU interior specials created two custom-made and printed carpets for a private client with this project that immediately catch the eye.
4. Gold colors
Gold tones can be found everywhere these days: on walls, in lamps, and even on ceilings! For example, TREU designed a striking eye-catcher for the ceiling and walls of the Kyatcha restaurant in The Hague. This was part of a project by Art2Go Interior Projects.
5. Resin floors in hotels and restaurants
Resin floors not only have a luxurious appearance but also offer various benefits for the hospitality sector. They often have a long lifespan, are easy to maintain, and are resistant to wear and tear. TREU’s resin floors are made of biopolymers combined with, for example, granulate stones (terrazzo look) or recycled wood. This makes them an easy and environmentally friendly option. A win-win situation!
