For a long time, herringbone has been the most popular laying pattern for parquet and PVC floors, alongside the straight plank pattern. These two laying patterns now have serious competition in the Hungarian point. What are the differences and which pattern best suits the relevant space or desired appearance? Difference in patterns<\/h2>\n

Although many people primarily see the similarities between the herringbone and Hungarian point laying patterns, it is the unique properties that literally make the difference.<\/p>\n

With herringbone, use is made of straight planks that are placed against each other at an angle of 90 degrees. The short side of one plank is laid against the long side of the other plank. This creates a weaving effect<\/strong> that looks like a herringbone<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

For the laying of a Hungarian point floor, use is made of planks with a diamond finish. The tops of the planks connect to each other at an angle of 45 degrees. Due to the so-called ‘chevron stripe’ that is created this way, a floor with Hungarian point looks tighter than a floor laid in a herringbone pattern. <\/p>\n

Appearance and interiors<\/h2>\n

Both the Hungarian point floor and the herringbone floor were traditionally laid exclusively in mansions. The patterns were an ultimate way to show visitors that they lived with status. They are therefore both patterns that lend themselves excellently to a luxurious appearance. Due to the tight and calmer lines, the Hungarian point is increasingly applied in modern interiors. <\/p>\n

We see herringbone mainly in interiors with a rural or Scandinavian appearance. With this pattern, the plank size can be adapted to the size of the chosen space. In large spaces, a large herringbone emphasizes the scale, whereas a small herringbone actually makes the smaller space look larger. <\/p>\n
